Knee Pads Discussions| I am the worst mummy in the world boo hoo! | | Okay here is the thing I have NEVER liked little girls wearing trousers to school so when the bad weather started I got my 5 yr old daughter Lovely warm tights for school. I persevered even though about! pair of tights had the knee burst out of them on average every one and a half days! I kept persevering until I had spent almost enough to buy a new laptop on replacing the tight! Eventually I gave in and bought her trousers until the better weather comes in! This is where the problem comes in with trouser; every week or two she comes home with a hole in the knee of her trousers! Kept persevering - now I am at the stage where I could have bought both my kids laptops with the money spent on new trousers!!! So I have come to a decision - she is going back to skirts with Knee high socks this time - the only problem is what am I going to do with the holes in her knees???? Help! Am I the worst mummy on mylot? Are your kids just as bad? How did you resolve this? Are you too a bad parent and letting them put holes in themselves instead of their clothes?
| | I love do it on my hands and knees! | | How do you wash the floor, with a mop or on your hands and knees?I usually use a mop but every now and then I like to wash the cracks the mop can't reach with my hands. I did that today and I realized I don't do it often enough! I like to clean the floor with my hands but it's not very easy on my knees! I suppose I could use knee pads but I don't have any just laying around the house.Using a mop is good if I am in a hurry but I really need to wash it with my hands to get a good cleaning. How do you like to do it? t mummy on mylot? Are your kids just as bad? How did you resolve this? Are you too a bad parent and letting them put holes in themselves instead of their clothes? | |
| | I'm tired of seeing every team wearing . The black alternate colored uniforms | | I'm getting a bit tired of seeing every team in every sport wearing a 3rd or 4th black colred uniform. Over the past coulle of years there have been new colors added to many of the sports teams. Like the NY Giants wear a red jersey sometimes. It makes sense because they have a little bit of red in their iniforms. I noticed the Ny mets wore an orange jersey, since they have a little orange in their uniforms it makes sense that the alternate new color be orange for a few games. But now like every other team they wear black jerseys a few times a year. It's startingg gto look a bit dull and boring seeing every team wear black as their new team colors. The black color doesn't even match for some of these teams. For example the Oakland A's. Their colors are green and yellow. Thet have been wearing a black home jersey for a few games during the year. That doesn't go with their team colors. A yellow jersey would be the perfect choice. I just saw an espn highlight from the toronto raptors vs the la lakers this morning, and toronta was wearing their new black road uniforms. Is there no originality in the world anymore? It's even happend in wrestling. I don't watch it like I used to, but I... | |

| | Do you children participate in sports... Read THIS! | | My boys both participated in sports from age five through high school. While sports are a very good for teaching children team work, and self discipline while building self esteem, they can be very dangerous. My oldest participated in Pop Warner football for flag years and then a few years of tackle, later moving on to cross country and weight training. The younger participated in Pop Warner through his first year of high school, middle school basketball, then JV ball as a sophomore along with weight training and skateboarding. It turned out that skate boarding was the most dangerous, of course it was unsupervised and he was old enough to be out on his own.
In reading the news from Healthier.com today I found surprising is that baseball rates so high in child eye injuries. I think knee pads, elbow pads, and helmets, not eye protection when I think of children in sports."Emergency rooms in the United States treat a sports-related eye injury every 13 minutes. Baseball causes the greatest number of sports-relater eye injuries in children aged 14 and younger, according to the National Eye Institute, while basketball is the...
| | smile - have a super weekend | | How did we survive in the 70s? When our prams had the most gorgeous lead based colours.
There were no such things as tamper proof bottle tops.
Opening kitchen cupboards was a breeze as there were no safety locks on the cupboards.
Cycling was a breath of fresh air - without safety helmets, knee pads or elbow pads. And with cardboards or baloons between the spokes to make it sound like a motorbike. We broke arms and legs, lost teeth, got cuts and bruises - nobody complained as we had so much fun. And it wasn't anybody's fault, only ours.
When thirsty we would only drink tap water - bottled water was still a mystery,
We were showing off how tough we were by how high we would climb trees and then jumping down - that was great fun.
We could stay out to play for hours as long as we came back home before dark and in time for dinner.
We always walked to school.
We had no mobiles, but we always managed to find our friends and relatives - how? no one knows.
We ate everything in sight - cakes, chocolate, icecream, sweet sugary drinks. Yet we stayed skinny.
If any one of us was lucky to get a coco cola bottle all had a sip from it and nobody picked up any germs.
We did not have... | |
| | Are You Killing The Fun Of Childhood? | | I was born in the 1950's. Children in the 50's and 60's played hard...OUTSIDE. We played in the streets, we were daredevils on bikes and skates, homemade go-carts, homemade skateboards; we had rope-swings high up in the trees; we climbed anything we could get up, including on top of houses. I don't recall one child dying from playing when I was younger. Ok, a few broken arms, scratches, bumps and bruises - but we had fun! I'm asking this because I remember seeing my 5 year-old grandson get ready to ride his bike: helmet with chin guard, elbow pads, knee pads...what a sight. How much fun can you have dressed up like that? Water wings and goggles and a nose clip in the pool! How silly is that? Today I read that kiddie pools in backyards are a bad thing. They are made of plastics and are not good for children's health. I think we have become so over-protective that we are suffocating childhood. They fail to mention in these articles that children are becoming fatter and fatter. We don't mind if they sit in the house all day playing video games and snacking all day. What kind of people are we expecting to raise these days? What kind of life will they lead? Will they be afraid... | |
| | This was so sad! | | I was just visiting my iGoogle homepage and saw a story about a 12 year old girl who had died from a softball injury to her head. This is very sad! I feel so sad for her parents. I know how devastated they must be. I just don't understand! I thought softball was supposed to be the safe sport to put our daughters into. At least that's what everyone has been saying for years. This type of injury sounds like something that could happen in boy's baseball. My older brother was in kiddie baseball when he was eight years old and they were always having injuries. It's not surprising, considering the baseball that those teams use. But, at least they were required to wear helmets and knee pads. Simply can't understand why they wouldn't protect the girls with better helmets. You just assume when you let your child do extra-curricular sports that they will be safe. Guess that is not always the case. | |

| | The Amazing Benefits of Exercize! | |
If all the benefits of exercise could be squeezed into a pill, it would be considered a miracle drug—the “rejuvenation pill.” Everyone would want it and would be willing to pay thousands of dollars for the extraordinary advantages—which come with no side-effects! No one would want to be without it. So why don’t more people get off their behinds and exercise?
Newspapers, books, television shows, and magazines extol the benefits of physical exercise and activity as a means to physical fitness and a longer life. In every town and city in the United States you can find bike paths, jogging trails, health clubs, gyms, racquet clubs, tennis courts, aerobics classes, dance studios, martial arts classes, and community recreation facilities. You would surmise that the country is caught up in a frenzy of fitness. Although it is true that our population values exercise more than ever before, it is also true that obesity has reached epidemic proportions in this land of abundance and affluence. One-third of the population is overweight. In Black and Hispanic cultures and in low-income groups, 50 percent of the women are obese. Life doesn’t have to be that way—and you don’t have to be in the...
